Our swim instructors will evaluate all students during the first class. For safety, and to help your child get the most from lessons, we reserve the right to reassign students to more suitable classes for their level. If the class they need is full, we may have to move their enrollment to another session block.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if we have to miss a day or two for a vacation? If you’ll need to miss more than one or two days, consider taking that level twice or choosing another session block. Students must be able to demonstrate all the outlined skills to advance to the next level and that may not be possible without regular attendance.
What if it’s cold or rainy during our lesson block? Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or reassignments for inclement weather. We still hold lessons in cool early summer conditions but will cancel lessons if we have any concerns about lightning, high winds, or other conditions that affect safety. The last day of the second week of each lesson block has no scheduled lesson. This is reserved as a make-up day in case of inclement weather.
How do I know which lesson level to choose? Each lesson includes a list of the skills that will be mastered before the student advances. If you’re considering Level 2, read the skills in Level 1. Has your child mastered each skill? If not, enroll them in Level 1. If your child was enrolled in lessons at our pool last year, their instructor would have given you a card that marked off each skill and offered a recommendation for their next class level.
What if we have to cancel? You may cancel or change to another available enrollment up to two weeks before your lesson block begins. Within two weeks of your session block, we can try to reassign your enrollment to another open class, but this depends entirely on availability. If no enrollment is available, tuition is not refundable. To change your enrollment, please contact our pool staff.
Should I sign my child up for level 1, then 2, then 3 in consecutive blocks? Completing a class doesn’t guarantee your child will be ready to advance. This decision can only be made based on their mastery of the skills outlined for each level. It may be safest to enroll in one session block online and then make more enrollments for later weeks with the pool staff.
Do I have to sign my child up for all five sessions? You may enroll in as few or as many sessions as you like. Each session block covers one complete class. Your child may be better off repeating that class or advancing in the next session. Your swim instructor will advise you.
What do I need to bring? Be sure to apply a high SPF sunscreen to your child several minutes before lessons. Our pool is outdoors, in full sun. Students may bring goggles, but any safety or instructional equipment will be provided.
After lessons, can my child stay for open swimming? Yes, if lessons are finished and the pool is still open for regular public swimming.
Does a parent need to stay for lessons? For children 8 and under, we require a parent to be on the premises at the pool at all times.
